When To Use a Business Broker
Investment bankers typically focus on transactions greater than $100 million because they have higher overheads and have bigger names. However, with an investment bank, you may be less likely to get the individualized attention that your company needs to sell because most of the investment banks also focus on financial planning and/or the public stock markets.
There are smaller firms that refer to themselves as invesment bankers, but if you look closely, you will see most focus on financial advising but they offer M&A services. If you decide to work with an investment bank and they are willing to work with you, do watch for high upfront costs and whether or not they are going to give you their “A-team” and the attention you deserve. True investment banks typically also take a stake in the deal, which can be a benefit or hindrance to the deal.
Since Orion Capital Group is dedicated to Mergers and Acquisitions, we have several investment banks that regularly use our services to help them find buyers for their middle-market clients.
